Happy Ending

As I was taking Pongo for a walk today, a cute, friendly pit bull came over to us and followed us home. She didn't have any tags or even a collar on but she seemed as though she was owned by someone. I spent the morning making flyers and posting them in the neighborhood and contacted the Humane Society to let them know that I found a dog in case anyone called looking for a brown and white female pit bull. Tonight the owners contacted me and came by to pick her up. It was a very happy ending.

Busy Busy Busy

This week has been so busy. On Monday I had an Opthalmic rotation where I finally got to examine the fundus of the eye through an indirect lens. Seeing the fundus through a direct lens is difficult without a lot of practice but luckily the Opthamologists that were running the rotation brought indirect lenses to make viewing the fundus easier. On Tuesday I had a Psychomotor rotation where I was able to develop my tactile skills through palpating miscillaneous items inside cloths and then guessing what it was. Today was extremely busy. I had a Neurology lecture from 8-10am, Molecular and Cellular Biology from 10-12, a lunch talk by Dr. Elaine Wexler-Mitchell on how to become a boarded feline practitioner from 12-1pm, Problem Based Learning from 1-3pm, Grand Rounds from 3-5pm and then the Vaccine Clinic from 6-8:30pm. So now its 9pm and I am just getting started on studying portosystemic shunts which is one of the topics of this weeks case.

So Depressing

I just returned from the presentation on consolidating student loans and it turns out that President Bush signed a Bill 2 months ago which as of July 1, 2006 will put an end to in school student loan consolidation.

Mid-block

This is week #4 of our 8 week block. So far our cases have focused around the gastrointestinal system, T-cell immunology, the endocrine system and now this week is the pathophysiology of the eye.
Since it's getting close to the end of the school year all of the clubs are electing new officers. So far I have been elected to be Secretary for the Student Chapter of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and the PR/Fundraising Chair for the Student Chapter of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
Sorry this blog is so short but I have to run to a talk on consolodating student loans during my lunch hour.
