Rainbow

It finally rained in southern California! Afterwards the sky was streaked orange and their were a couple of rainbows, it was really beautiful and the best part of the thunderstorm was that it cleared the smog away for a couple of hours so you can actually see the mountain range near my house.
Finals are getting really close now, they start next Monday and end on Friday. Everyone at school is really stressed.
Last week I had orientation at the Inland Empire Valley Humane Society so that I can work at their low cost vaccine clinics that they offer to pet owners in the Inland Empire every couple of weeks. It was really sad because most of the animals at the shelter came from very negleted homes and will most likely be euthanized (especially the cats). This whole area is definately very different then what I am used to at home. Most of the people here are very poor and uneducated. The kind of medicine that we are practicing when we are on our rotations (at hospitals and the VACS bus) is focused more on preventative medicine (vaccines, heartworm, spaying, neutering and educating clients) as opposed to more complex medical cases.
If you would like to adopt a pet you should visit the Inland Valley Humane Society: http://www.ivhsspca.org/
